St. John teaches in his First Epistle that, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4-5)
This what they understood the power of the Gospel to do – overcome the world. Yet, even the word Gospel is not a Christian word, but borrowed from the vocabulary of the Roman imperial cult.
Does this change how we “do” evangelism?
In this sermon, I make the case that the posture of evangelism is not begging or luring people to choose Jesus, but rather that Evangelism is a triumphant victory march of the Kingdom into every sphere of life.
